about

RETROGRADE
This album is dedicated to Adelaide Nuschese, my mother, who told me to never give up on my dreams and always supported me.

Retrograde is comprised of bands I put together from musicians at Georgetown. Dagos is a indie/punk rock band that was formed in the fall of 2012. It has been my personal band, and I hope to continue working with the band after graduating from Georgetown. The Bulldog Alley Alleycats originally started as a random grouping of a few musicians whom I brought together to play some jazz standards at a show for the Georgetown Improv Association. I decided to bring them back to play a few tunes on this album because of the instant chemistry that was formed at the original show. Spit is a project that my roommate and bandmate John Romano revealed and performed as this year. I decided to feature him on this album because he is making music that is incredibly unique to the Georgetown music scene. Spit ssockett officially met and started playing together this year, and I asked them to play for the album because they are a fantastic product of the musical relationships that can be formed at Georgetown.

Special Thanks:
to Professor Flawn Willams, Professor Anna Celenza, Professor Ben Harbert, Ron Lignelli, and the Georgetown University Department of Performing Arts for their instruction and assistance in making this album possible.
to all the musicians who were willing to devote their time, energy, and passion to the music and to John Romano, Joe Romano, Mary Ellen Funke, and Lyell Roeder for their assistance in mixing and mastering the album.
to Edman Urias, Nick Giberti, Rianna Folds, Andrew Carter, Nathan Epstein, Anthony Damond, John Romano, Joe Romano, Mike Wang, and the GSH for all of their support during the making of this album, and for always being there when I needed them.
to my family and my parents who supported me throughout my time at Georgetown, and who were behind me no matter what my goals were.

Track Name: Dagos - Dinosaurs are Sad
Dinosaurs are Sad
The buildings are dinosaurs
Whose bodies are considered floors
They walk with grace no property rights
In time you'll see, they're outta sight
Financial district businessmen call home
The dinos bite the heads off of all the CEOs

Don't bother them they're my only friends
That's not so sad

Dinos shake the conference rooms, bosses didn't wanna move
Now they regret their stubborn choice and the people they exploit
Track Name: Dagos - Retrospectfully
Retrospectfully
I don't have problems in my head
I spread them out clean between us instead
Coat the sides, morning rise, big surprise, smilin lies, feeling dies

Afternoon, all I had has left. Back so soon, thought you were bereft
I guess you are, who am I to say. Thoughtless words burst or float away

Think I can just use this all for later
I ask you who's your favorite dictator
Secrets hide, right outside, lousy break, give and take, vacillate

Here I am, empty husk of a man
Lying here to rot
I can't say what is or what is not
Can we talk again
Track Name: Spit - Totally Lost in Outer Space
Totally Lost in Outer Space
Sew me in space along your thread
Pools of blood my heart has bled
Its so hard feelin hurt
Invisible pain could not be worse

I shoot out a shooting star
Into nothing very far
Space is empty like my head
Space is empty like my bed

Maybe I should live like this
I know I’m used to loneliness
But after all the time we’ve had
I can’t go back and not be sad

Totally lost in outer space
One way ticket to see your face
After long I’m on my way
Can I die another way?

I just did not expect
you could want to see me less
We agreed to no regrets
Please don’t say we’re done yet

I shoot out a shooting star
Into nothing very far
Space is empty like my head
Space is empty like my bed
Track Name: The Bulldog Alley Alleycats - The Girl From Ipanema
The Girl From Ipanema (Antonio Carlos Jobim Cover)
Tall and tan and young and lovely,
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, each one she passes goes, “Aaah…”
When she walks, she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gently
That when she passes, each one she passes goes, “Aaah…”
Oh, but he watches so sadly -
How can he tell her he loves her?
Yes, he would give his heart gladly,
But each day when she walks to the sea,
She looks straight ahead – not at he…
Tall and tan and young and lovely,
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, he smiles, but she doesn’t see…

Oh, but he sees her so sadly -
How can he tell her he loves her?
Yes, he would give his heart gladly,
But each day when she walks to the sea,
She looks straight ahead – not at he…
Tall and tan and young and lovely,
The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, he smiles, but she doesn’t see…
She just doesn’t see…
Track Name: Spit ssockett - The Cosmos
The Cosmos (Porches Cover)
pay no attention
while i'm getting
spaced out

if you can spell it
well you can do it all
spell it with me
s-p-a-c-e

we all die
we all die
but not i
i don't live here
i live in the cosmos

when you stay up late
in retrograde
watch the loners
gracefully get laid

across the couch
couple friends sprawlin out
and we don't touch much
like spiritual make out

refrain

i wanna go dancing in the public eye
